During the Texas Ice Storm of 2021, I spent a lot of time outside in the snow taking pictures of the ice-covered trees. Austin was at a complete standstill, so it was dead quiet. The ice that sheathed the bare branches sparkled and the wind blowing through them made an otherworldly sound as the ice creaked and cracked. For me, raised in the midwest, this was heaven. was the first one made from those photos. Can you feel the chill but appreciate the sinewy elegance of the dappled branches? The image is, in every sense of the word, frozen. But there is undeniable motion in the branches. They look like they are dancing, perhaps for the sun they worship?
